The UFC are still yet to finalise their headline fight for their showpiece UFC 300 card in Las Vegas in April.

The bill is already stacked with blockbuster fights ahead of its slated April 13 date, including Justin Gaethje vs Max Holloway, Holly Holm vs Kayla Harrison, as well as former world champions Charles Oliveira, Cody Garbrandt and Aljamain Sterling.

But a headline bout is yet to be confirmed, despite numerous rumors doing the rounds on social media.

Khamzat Chimaev shuts down UFC 300 rumors

A report emerged on Monday that welterweight world champion Leon Edwards would defend his belt against Khamzat Chimaev as the headline fight on UFC 300.

Edwards, who beat pound-for-pound king Kamaru Usman to win the belt in 2022, before beating him in a rematch and defending his title again against Colby Covington, is due another defense in the coming months.

However, Chimaev – who has also been linked with a middleweight title fight against champion Dricus Du Plessis – won’t be that man, as he outlined his plan to return after Ramadan.

“I will fight everybody,” the 29-year-old told MMA Uncensored. “Leon [Edwards], [Dricus] Du Plessis, anyone, but not [during] Ramadan.

“I think Ramadan [is during] UFC 300. Maybe somebody in Saudi Arabia, I want to fight there. [I am] Not fighting in Ramadan anymore.”

Chimaev is a devout Muslim and will be fasting during Ramadan for a month, with the holy period ending just days before UFC 300 takes place.
