Riot Games have released a hilarious promo video for the start of the newly-rebranded LCS.

Formerly the North American League Championship Series, for 2019 onwards the “NA” has been dropped from the league’s title while the former EU LCS has rebranded to the League of Legends European Championship (LEC).

The video sees LCS staff, including host James ‘Dash’ Patterson and commentator Rivington ‘Rivington’ Bisland III, brainstorming ideas for the league’s upcoming rebrand, apparently lost for ideas.

On the wall, a whiteboard is filled with suggestions, ranging from “Murica LCS” to “Are TSM still good?” and “League of Imports”.

Dash attempts to revitalize the discussion by trying out random adjectives, while Rivington continually pushes his own suggestion: “Legendary League of Legends Championship”. The group can’t seem to come to a satisfactory decision.

Suddenly, though, Dash has an idea. Triumphant music plays as he stands up and, in dramatic slow motion, simply rubs out the “NA” at the front of the “NA LCS”.

The Spring Split of the LCS is due to kick off on January 26, the last of the major leagues to return in 2019.

As is tradition, the first match of the new split will be a rematch of last season’s grand final, which will also be Nicolaj ‘Jensen’ Jensen’s first match against his old team Cloud9 after signing with Team Liquid for the 2019 season. Check out the LCS schedule for the opening week here.
