First Footage of Fortnite’s Drum Gun in Action Makes the New Weapon Look Incredibly Deadly

The all-new Drum Gun has officially been added to Fortnite Battle Royale and early footage of it in action suggests that it could be one of the best weapons in the game.

The Drum Gun looks very similar to the famous Thompson submachine gun (Tommy gun) that is typically associated with the prohibition era and WWII.

Much like its real world counterpart, the Drum Gun in Fortnite aims to be versatile and combine “the stopping power of a rifle with the suppressive ability and fire rate of an SMG.”

While the description of the weapon certainly makes it sound like a useful tool, it is always hard to predict how a new gun will perform until it’s live and in the hands of the player base.

If the first clips are anything to go by, though, it looks like we could have a new contender for one of the best weapons in the game.

Reddit user arends33 shared some footage from his first game with the gun which shows it shredding opponents even when when he is running and firing from the hip:

Arends33 isn’t the only person to have found such success with the new gun. Twitter user @JNGamingx also used the SMG/AR hybrid to get himself out of a sticky situation and numerous other community members are reporting similar results.

It will be interesting to see what the Drum Gun can do in the hands of the world’s best players but we wouldn’t be surprised to see a small nerf implemented if these early signs are anything to by.
