Dr Disrespect questions decision on xQc’s short-lived Twitch ban
Dr Disrespect, xqc / TwitchDr Disrespect has questioned Twitch’s decision to temporarily ban Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel on the platform, after the streamer accidentally showed a penis during a broadcast.
The former Overwatch professional player admitted during a livestream on July 30 that he was being investigated for the incident, before fans realized that he was banned for a short amount of time the following day.
However, the suspension of xQc’s channel was seemingly short lived, as it was restored a few hours later. The Canadian had previously suggested that he had been warned about a potential three day ban, but that didn’t turn out to be the case.
The Doc actually discussed the issue on his channel before the ban was lifted, but his criticisms regarding the situation still stand and he certainly put across his verdict strongly – as ever.
“He showed part of a penis on stream? He showed a frame of a dick on stream,” Dr Disrespect said. “Was the intention of him to go: ‘Oh, there’s a dick. Let me drag it over here onto the screen, let’s click on the picture and talk about the dick for five minutes on the channel.'”
He added: “Was that the intention? It’s a fucking accident.”
The short-lived ban appeared to impact xQc’s next stream too, as the player posted a message to his fans on Twitter claiming that some followers weren’t being notified about him going live on Twitch. Some were being caught between “banned and unbanned” states, he tweeted.

Whether or not streamers should be banned for accidentally showing something inappropriate – sometimes for a split second – is a debate that’s been going on for a sustained period of time.
Twitch does have some clear guidelines on sexual content and it comes as no surprise that action was taken after xQc’s mishap. The rules state even if a user “accidentally showed content that was sexually explicit” they can be reviewed and suspended as a result.
From the comments made by Dr Disrespect, it’s clear to see what his view on the matter is and the move to shorten the ban given to his fellow streamer could be seen as a step in the right direction for some people.
