Modern Warfare 3 players are lashing out with their frustrations, calling the game’s ranked mode the “worst” competitive mode they’ve ever played.

Modern Warfare 3 was accepted reasonably well by CoD players at launch, but still received a fair amount of criticism for numerous reasons.

Complaints have continued ever since the game’s release, mostly surrounding the controversial skill-based matchmaking system, where finally after months of waiting MW3’s highly-requested Ranked Play mode was released.

However, the devs quickly faced even more backlash for the ranked mode having the “most broken matchmaking system.”

MW3 players blast Ranked as “worst” mode they’ve ever played

On February 6, one CoD player kicked off a discussion regarding the MW3’s ranked play. Criticism surrounding the competitive mode is certainly nothing new, although some are now claiming it’s the worst they’ve ever played.

“MW3 Ranked is probably the WORST competitive mode I’ve ever played,” they said in a Reddit thread.

In the replies to the post, it’s clear many feel the same, mostly due to the “insane” skill-based matchmaking that is somehow worse than the highly criticized SBMM seen in pub matches.

“The SBMM on ranked is the most insane thing I have ever seen,” one claimed. The SBMM in ranked managed to be way worse than pubs.”

According to some, the issue lies with the way players are ranked. “I think that it’s broken for many reasons but the way they calculate SR means you can be a skilled player and get stuck in low ranks due to getting hard matches,” they explained.

Some claim it simply doesn’t make any sense regardless. “It doesn’t make any sense. Why the f**k does ranked have hidden mmr / sbmm?” one hit out.

It’s clear that players are frustrated, although we’ll just have to wait and see whether or not the devs act on the criticism from the community with changes in future updates.
