Just a few days into the CoD Vanguard cycle and we already have our first major tournament in the books as Team Simp took out the $70K Spin The Wheel event hosted by none other than Team Summertime.

  • Simp, Abezy, MajorManiak, & Priestahh take out first place.
  • $70,000 prize pool marked the biggest CoD Vanguard event thus far.
  • Team Summertime’s Hitch, Blake, & Jorge hosted.

A busy first week with CoD Vanguard winded down with a massive $70,000 tournament featuring a mix of top CDL talent.

From a Scump & Crimsix reunion to the 2020 Atlanta FaZe lineup getting back in form, it was one of the most chaotic events of the year. If you missed any of the action, we’ve got you covered with a full recap of how it all played out.

$70K CoD Vanguard Spin The Wheel event: Results & Recap

With 32 of the best CoD pros all mixed and matched across one-off lineups, TST’s $70K event gave us a unique day of chaos in Vanguard. Some had an upper hand with their previous experience teaming in the CDL, while others were paired up for the first time ever.

As a result, we got to see chemistry building right in front of our eyes. For some, they were able to excel and make a decent run through the bracket. For others like Team Tommey and Team Attach, the magic just wasn’t quite there.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was Team Simp – a reunion of 2020 CDL runner ups Atlanta FaZe – that immediately came out hot. The throwback squad of Simp, Abezy, MajorManiak, & Priestahh cruised to the grand finals without dropping more than one map.

Even after a few hours awaiting their last opponents in Team Kenny, they kept the momentum flying through to a near-flawless victory in the finals.

$70K CoD Vanguard Spin The Wheel event: Streams & Schedule

Team Summertime’s $70K Vanguard tournament kicked off at 12PM PT | 3PM ET on Wednesday, November 10.

As always, the TST crew was keeping on top of the action, BoomTV hosted an official broadcast with Miles Ross and Chance commentating.

Though almost every competitor was also sharing their own POV throughout the tournament as well.

$70K CoD Vanguard Spin The Wheel event: Format

TST’s $70K Vanguard didn’t function like your usual tournament. Rather than CDL squads loading into each lobby with their familiar lineup, all teams had to ‘spin the wheel’ as the name implied.

A total of 32 players were dropped into the mix, with an even split of SMG stars and accurate AR beamers. Two SMG players and two AR players were randomly grouped together to form an eight team double-elimination bracket.

Given the unique format, we saw some wild teams formed for the event. The likes of iLLeY and Hydra were playing together as were Huke and Karma. We even saw Scump teaming with his old pal Crimsix for the first time since the OpTic dynasty days.

Below is a full look at every confirmed team.
