Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall had to be pulled apart at the end of a fiery press conference ahead of their much anticipated rematch on Saturday, April 27.

Taylor beat Catterall via split decision in February 2022 in what was a controversial fight many thought Catterall had won.

Despite being knocked down in the fight, Taylor retained all four world title and his status as the undisputed super-lightweight world champion.

Taylor has since lost his belts, after a first career defeat to Teofimo Lopez, but it remains one of the most anticipated rematches in British boxing when the pair lock horns at Leeds’ First Direct Arena.

Things get heated in opening press conference

In the first of two scheduled press conferences on Monday, the two fighters traded a number of jibes in front of a raucous home crowd in Edinburgh for Taylor.

And when the fighters got together for a head to head shot, they had to be pulled apart after Catterall reacted to some trash talk by Taylor by grabbing his throat.

Security separated the pair before Taylor shouted over to his rival, who had claimed during the press conference the Scot ‘couldn’t see straight’: “I can see straight now and you are f****d.”

During the press conference, the Scottish crowd booed Catterall and his outspoken manager Sam Jones throughout.

The pair head to Manchester on Tuesday for a second press conference before tickets go on sale later this week.
