Needless to say, when Luffy and his crew find out about it, they decide to protect the old man. And thus, a full-scale battle between the Marines and the pirates begins. In Chapter 1106, Saturn finds out that Vegapunk did some secret modifications on the Pacifista.
Being Kuma’s friend, Vegapunk couldn’t bear the thought that a machine resembling Bonney’s father would someday end her life. Hence, he ensured that no matter what, the Pacifistas would never harm her. However, this enrages Saturn and impales the old scientist with his giant nails.
