The Nun 3: Everything we know so far
Warner Bros.The Nun 2 has just begun haunting cinemas, but will this demonic entity appear for a third entry, and what would The Nun 3 involve?
Grab your holy water and your rosaries, as the demonic Nun is back in cinemas, and back to wreak Conjuring Franchise levels of frights.
The synopsis of this new horror movie reads: “In 1956 France, a priest is violently murdered, and Sister Irene begins to investigate. She once again comes face-to-face with a powerful evil.” What this synopsis fails to mention is that, as a result of saving Sister Irene in the first movie, fellow main character Maurice is now possessed by the Nun, AKA Valak, which is where most of the movie’s conflict stems from.
The movie has only just dropped in cinemas, but considering how big the Conjuring franchise is, audiences may already be wondering about a third Nun film. So here’s everything we know so far about The Nun 3.
Is The Nun 3 happening?
As of writing, there is no information surrounding a third Nun movie in the Conjuring franchise.
Right now, the upcoming movie in the franchise is another Conjuring movie; more specifically, The Conjuring 4, titled “Last Rites,” was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter in October 2022, with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick writing the screenplay and James Wan producing. Currently, there is no release date for said movie, and with the current WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, there likely won’t be a date for a while.
However, in regards to The Nun 3 news, the Conjuring franchise has released a new movie at least once every two years ever since its inception back in 2013. So, we’ll no doubt hear any news about a threequel relatively soon, should it be happening.
What would happen in The Nun 3?
No doubt The Nun 3 would continue the scares as the demonic holy woman wreaks deadly havoc.
While The Nun 2 may make it seem like Valak is gone for good, as we discuss in our ending explained article, she could very well still be lurking inside Maurice, as she was in the first movie. This means that she could bring more violence and death in her quest for power, and Sister Irene would once again have to stop her.
Since both Nun movies are considered prequels, perhaps we could get more hints about Conjuring leads the Warren’s involvement with Valak, or even other Conjuring franchise cameos.
As for the potential notable cast for The Nun 3, it would likely remain quite similar, that being:
- Bonnie Aarons as Valak/The Nun
- Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene
- Jonas Bloquet as Maurice/Frenchie
- Storm Reid as Sister Debra
- Patrick Wilson as Ed Warren
- Vera Farmiga as Lorraine Warren
But as previously stated, there has been no news regarding a third Nun movie, so at this point, this is all speculation. For now, make sure you check out the sequel in cinemas, and get a holy good fright.
