HBO may have cancelled their Game of Thrones successor Bloodmoon five years ago, but now fans have been bizarrely given its first look featuring Naomi Watts in the pilot episode.

Despite there being various Game of Thrones projects that are being reportedbly developed by HBO, the prequel series House of Dragon, has been the only one to fully surface so far.

One of these that was in the works was Bloodmoon, which was originally set to be the first GoT successor show. However, the series that was intended to depict the events of The Long Night, soon ended up getting the axe.

Now, five years later, all thanks to the on-set makeup artist, we have been given the first look to the cancelled show from its $30 million pilot episode.

Game of Thrones cancelled spinoff Bloodmoon gets first look

Flora Moody was the personal hair and makeup artist for Naomi Watts and her character for Bloodmoon and its pilot episode. Which has revealed by sharing several posts to her Instagram account, featuring various photos and videos directly from the set.

“Naomi Watts for the unaired ‘Bloodmoon’ that sadly didn’t make it to the screen. Disappointed that the opportunities to carry on the hair and makeup aesthetic for Naomi’s character were cut short! But a wonderful crew, wonderful cast and a great time had filming in Belfast 5 years ago,” Moody posted alongside them.

The pilot episode reportedly revolved around a wedding between a Stark and a Casterly, taking place at Casterly Rock. Naomi Watts was set to lead the cast of the spinoff, which would have also featured Stranger Things breakout star Jamie Campbell Bower, who gave a captivating performance in season four.

It was also set to feature Andor’s Denise Gough, who has previously opened up about her “wonderful experience” while working on Bloodmoon before it was ultimately scrapped by HBO in 2019.
