Overwatch 2’s recent update has left Mercy mains crying after the devs nerfed her pistol projectiles, instead of buffing her healing.

Overwatch 2 has drastically shifted in meta due to the recent changes made in Season 9. Heroes like Zenyatta and Tracer have risen up as stars of the new age, dealing immense amounts of damage with Discord Orb and their Pulse Pistols. Especially with the healing reduction available to DPS heroes, players can no longer heal tank damage, meaning focus fire is key to eliminating enemies.

Because of this many heroes like Mercy have struggled in the new season, whose capacity to heal has been significantly reduced thanks to the DPS passive. This has prompted many Mercy players to request Blizzard buff the character’s healing, hoping the recent hotfix would breathe new life into her.

Unfortunately, the newest patch only nerfed Mercy’s pistol projectiles, with nothing in sight for the hero’s healing, causing mains of the hero to cry foul.

Mercy players upset after hero receives pistol nerf instead of healing buff

Mercy streamer Skiesti showcased the nerfs on Twitter, claiming that they were a direct result of the complaints players made about the new hitboxes. Mercy’s pistol projectiles had their size decreased, making them harder to land.

Players responded with outrage and sadness at the changes, believing now would be the perfect time to innovate on the character and help her healing capabilities.

“What is this blizz pls? Honestly, with all of the changes, I feel like this would be a great time to try her triage healing again. But ofc if we ask for anything we’re flamed for being Mercy mains so.” one player argued.

“People missing the point around here. We don’t care about the hitbox nerf, Mercy barely even takes out her pistol. It’s the fact that it was the only change since she’s one of the most underperforming supports right now.” another commented.

With the new patch now live, it’s unlikely the devs will shape any more major changes until the mid-season patch. Which means Mercy players may have to wait that much longer for the hero to receive the boost she needs.
