Aurelion Sol received some buffs in League of Legends Patch 14.3 and his win rate soared hours later, now Riot is bringing him back to reality with a micro patch nerf.

Aurelion Sol has been in a weird place in League of Legends for a while. His gameplay style was off-putting for mid lane players and his rework has been somewhat successful in getting anyone to pilot him in matches. However, he hasn’t been widely adopted by the player base yet.

Riot was hoping to give players more reasons to play him in Patch 14.3 by increasing his scaling potential with tweaks to all three of his non-ultimate abilities. The buff increased his percent bonus damage from Breath of Light and also heavily decreased his mana costs for Q and W.

The supposed trade-off for his more powerful Q and W was a decrease in Stardust Stacks for minion and neutral monster takedowns.

The developer may have turned up the dial on the buff meter too high for the champion as his win rate soared to 56% in the hours after the patch went live. He also became the fifth-most picked mid lane champion in the game during that time.

Aurelion Sol nerfed after 14.3 buffs

Lead Gameplay Designer Matt Leung-Harrison, known as Riot Phroxzon, said on social media on February 7 that a micro patch will be implemented in a few hours that will nerf Aurelion Sol slightly.

Riot Phroxzon also updated players on the situation around the item Hubris in ARMA, clarifying that it is still in its pre-buffed state as the mode didn’t receive the micro patch buff from patch 14.2.

The designer did not specify what abilities or numbers they would be changing, but it can be assumed that he won’t be as powerful as he was in the hours post-patch 14.3.
