Cartoon to live-action remakes have been a popular trend in the last year, with one more title possibly being added to the fold.

If there’s one thing we love more than watching cartoons, it’s watching live-action remakes of our favorite animated stories.

In 2023 alone, Netflix‘s One Piece adaptation took the globe by storm, with anticipation for the 2024 release of Avatar: The Last Airbender generating plenty of hype.

However, there might be another iconic title from the 2000s joining the ranks soon – and fans are already divided.

Iconic 2000s cartoon may become a live-action movie

According to recent reports, 2000s cartoon Danny Phantom may soon become a live-action movie.

First airing in 2003 – before stopping in 2007 – Danny Phantom’s official synopsis reads “Danny Fenton was once your typical kid until he accidentally blew up his parents’ laboratory and became ghost-hunting superhero Danny Phantom.

“Now half-ghost, Danny’s picked up paranormal powers, but only his sister, Jazz, and best friends, Samantha and Tucker, know his secret. Danny’s busy fighting ghosts, saving Casper High, and hiding his new identity all while trying to graduate.”

Users have mocked up what the Danny Phantom live-action movie might look like, which you can check out below:

Danny Phantom originally aired around the same time as other iconic cartoons including Spongebob Squarepants, Fairly Odd Parents, Jimmy Neutron, and the female counterpart Kim Possible.

“FR! Oh this is the biggest W ever!!!,” one fan posted on X/Twitter in response to the news. “Let’s go! Hopefully it’ll be good,” added another.

For many fans, the execution of how Danny Phantom could transform into a live-action movie is an immediate concern.

“Can’t wait to see how bad they mess this up,” one fan added, with a second commenting, “Oh god no. They’re gonna ruin it.”

“This would be fire if they executed it well,” a third weighed in. “As long as they do it right this could turn out to be a great movie. But only time will tell,” a fourth stated.

As popular as Danny Phantom was in the 2000s, other fans can’t help but wonder if the live-action treatment would be better suited to other iconic cartoons.

“I want a big budget Ben 10 movie…$100M+, actual known kid actor, and care put into the script. He deserves a legit franchise,” one fan added, with a second agreeing, “I want a Ben 10 live-action project more.”
