WoW players terrified of Phase Two Season of Discovery thanks to one Gnome Trinket

Phase Two of World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery is not very far away, and players have started to speculate on what the meta could look like. One major cause for concern is Gnomes, who have access to a Trinket that could blow the competition away.

For those who are yet to jump into Blizzard’s latest seasonal offering, Season of Discovery has a staggered leveling system. In the first instance, players have been able to reach Level 25, before the next phase raises that cap to 40. All of this eventually culminating in the original Level 60 cap.

This will likely lead to significant shifts in the meta between the phases. As a result, speculation on which class would excel before the first and second phases has been rife. Analysis of potential gear, talents and Rune abilities all comes into play, but it’s difficult to know before the phase actually starts.

Now, many are sharing a similar fear that the unlikely Gnome could be the next to dominate Azeroth.

Beware the Gnome and its Battle Chicken in Season of Discovery

In a post on Reddit, one user shared their belief that beloved Classic WoW Trinket, the Gnomish Battle Chicken, could elevate the race above all of the competition in Phase Two.

Though it might have a silly name, the Gnomish Battle Chicken is no laughing matter. It essentially summons a Level 46 pet that fights alongside the player for 1.5 minutes or until it is “killed”. In a game where the player level is going to be capped at 40 for a while, this could make a huge difference.

The Trinket is available to those with an Engineering skill of 230 and its difficult to see why this would be anything other than the primary choice for Gnomes in Season of Discovery. In addition, it offers a group-wide 5% attack speed buff which stacks with other members who have the chicken.

Many were quick to agree. One said: “It’s 5% per chicken. So a group can have 25% attack speed buff if they all use it. I’m hoping Blizzard changes it/doesnt allow it. If they dont, WCL will probably ban it.”

Others took the opportunity to insult the diminutive class. One said: “Gnomes deserve to have battle chickens for how f**king stupid they are.”

Another added: “You’re missing the fact that to get a Gnome in a party someone would have to stomach playing as or with one in the first place.”

Joking aside, there is a solid argument that the Battle Chicken could be huge in Phase Two. Though it is specific to Gnome Engineers, many players have been experimenting with new classes. Whether that will result in an overabundance of Gnomes in Gnomeregan remains to be seen.
