The fourth installment of Netflix’s Fear Street series has revealed which iconic horror movie novel it will be based on.

Debuting in 2021, Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy took audiences by storm as it told an intricate story of love, revenge, and murder.

All three movies, which are based on works by author R. L. Stine, told the overarching story of Deena and Sam’s relationship throughout various timelines from the 1990s to the 1600s.

And now a fourth movie in the franchise in production and has finally revealed the iconic horror movie its story will be based on.

Fear Street 4 will take audiences back to high school

The Fear Street trilogy focused on the local kids from Shadyside, a town that is known as the murder capital of their fictional world.

The last movie — Fear Street Part Three: 1666 — saw the teenage protagonists finally break the “Shadyside curse” as it was revealed that a witch’s curse was at fault for the town’s rampant murders.

However, the fourth movie will take audiences back to Shadyside as the movie will be based on  R. L. Stine’s 1992 novel The Prom Queen.

The description for the novel from Stine’s website reads: “A spring night…soft moonlight…five beautiful Prom Queen candidates…dancing couples at the Shadyside High prom – these should be the ingredients for romance.

But stir in one brutal murder – then another, and another – and the recipe quickly turns to horror.

Lizzie McVay realizes that someone is murdering the five Prom Queen candidates one by one – and that she may be next on the list! Can she stop the murderer before the dance is over – for good?”

As the first three Fear Street films focused on the town’s connection to magic and sacrifice, it’s safe to say that Fear Street 4 will follow this trend and have its story focus on teens banding together against an ultimate evil.
