Apple’s new iPad Pro models could be getting major changes in their dimensions, but the standard iPad Air might stay the same.

Apple has half a dozen new iPads in the works, and some of them may be announced during the rumored March Event. Apple has not confirmed any details about the new iPads or the upcoming event, but leaks keep revealing new information. According to the latest leaks, Apple is making significant changes to the iPad Pro.

Reports claim that Apple is making changes to the iPad Pro’s dimensions, and it might come with a particularly thinner construction. The publication also revealed the dimensions of the upcoming iPad Air, which might be available in two sizes.

The new iPad Pros could be a lot thinner

iPad Pro models will get thinner and you can thank the OLED panels for that. When compared to LCD used on previous models, OLED panels have fewer layers which helps in making a device thinner.

According to 9to5Mac, the upcoming 11-inch iPad Pro will have dimensions of 249.7 mm x 177.5 mm x 5.1 mm, while the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro will measure 281.5 mm x 215.5 mm x 5.0 mm.

Now, that’s not an earth-shattering difference, but certainly a good improvement. It will be interesting to see if the new iPad Pro models will be lighter as well.

As for the iPad Air, the rumored 12.9-inch model could measure 280.6 mm x 214.9 mm x 6.0 mm while the new 11-inch iPad Air could remain the same as its predecessor.

These new iPads are all expected to receive chipset upgrades. The new iPad Pros may be equipped with OLED panels, as discussed above. We recommend waiting for the new iPads to launch at the upcoming Apple event before purchasing one of the older models.
