Starfield has a system in place where you can steal spaceships, however, some players are left frustrated as this activity does not make them any substantial money.

Starfield is a massive game with quite a few activities to undertake. You can explore the cosmos, travel across planets, undertake missions, or become a pirate and steal spaceships. However, stealing a spaceship is a dangerous task and you’d expect to be rewarded appropriately for the maneuver.

Unfortunately, players are left frustrated as stealing ships proves to be pointless with the money you receive is sub-par.

Starfield players convinced poor rewards for stealing ships is bad game design

The discussion was initiated on Reddit where the player claimed that they were surprised stealing spaceships do not make any money for the players. The return for stealing a spaceship is 2000 credits which they feel like it’s “mere pocket change.”

The player thinks this whole situation is a bad game design from Bethesda and is something that devs should have thought about.

The post received a mixed response as other players also joined in the discussion. One such Reddit user focused on the fact that selling stolen spaceships to legitimate vendors should result in an arrest. However, they also feel players “should definitely be able to turn in stolen ships to the Crimson Fleet vendor for a tidy profit.”

One player focused on one of the game’s pain points where it doesn’t feel “supportive of chaotic or evil RP.” “It seems like the point of stealing ships is more for the xp and loot, and keep it to use, rather than flipping them for credits” they said. This has been one of the major complaints when it comes to Starfield for quite a while where it opposes the idea of playing the role of an evil person.

Finally one of the users pointed out that stealing ships should also be more difficult as well since currently it is very easy. This led to some players pointing out some interesting ideas to make this task more challenging with one being, “When you board a hostile ship it starts a self destruct timer.”
