Super Bowl LVIII will begin with a rousing rendition of the US National Anthem by country music star Reba McEntire

The Super Bowl has become one of the most popular sporting events in the world. With millions of viewers tuned in around the globe, the NFL aims for a strong opening with an icon handling the US National Anthem, so who is performing it this year?

From pop singers like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Beyoncé to country stars like Garth Brooks and Chris Stapleton — there is no shortage of representation when it comes to singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.

Now, one of the most accomplished music artists of all time takes center stage to kick off the festivities on NFL Super Bowl Sunday. At the ripe age of 68, no less.

Who will sing the national anthem at Super Bowl LVII?

Affectionately known as the “Queen of Country Music,” Reba McEntire has been chosen as the voice to open Sunday’s broadcast.

McEntire is a multi-platinum-selling artist with three Grammy Awards under her belt. She has been a fixture on the country music scene for nearly 50 years.

The veteran is currently a coach on NBC’s singing contest “The Voice,” where she lends her extensive experience to help hopeful artists advance in the crowded music industry.

Although she hasn’t released a studio album since April 2019, McEntire remains active by performing at music festivals and award shows, plus as a headliner on her own tour. This occasion marks the first Super Bowl appearance in her storied career.

Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will begin at 6:30 PM ET, 3:30 PM Pacific, and 11:30 PM in the UK.

Long-time fans of Reba McEntire should tune into coverage approximately 15 minutes before kick-off. Deaf actor Daniel Durant, who will relay sign language to those with hearing impairments, will also accompany McEntire during the performance.
