Super Bowl LVIII kicks off in Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend; the NFL has named a multi-time Grammy winner as the headliner for the halftime show

The NFL has named an R&B legend as the lead performer for Super Bowl LVIII’s halftime show.

Super Bowl Sunday is on the horizon as NFL fans from around the globe prepare for a heated battle between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.

It marks a rematch of Super Bowl LIV, when the Chiefs defeated the 49ers 31-20 after charging back from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit, earning Patrick Mahomes the first championship ring of his career.

Both teams have advanced throughout this postseason in dominant fashion. But San Francisco, led by breakout star Brock Purdy, will enter the matchup as the favorites.

However, some fans are already anticipating the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show. Lucky for them, the NFL has tabbed a well-known artist to handle the intermission between halves.

Who is singing the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show?

Usher Raymond IV, better known simply as Usher, will step up to the plate. He grew up singing in his church choir before blossoming into an award-winning R&B artist in the 1990s and 2000s.

With a Diamond-certified record in “Confessions,” Usher has cemented his place as one of the world’s most accomplished performers. He parlayed this success into two stints on NBC’s singing contest, “The Voice,” even winning the show’s sixth season.

Super Bowl LVIII takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is the city where Usher has resided for much of the past year, performing shows from Wednesday through Saturday weekly.

Usher credits his time in Vegas with reigniting his passion for creating new music of his own. His album titled “Coming Home” debuted on Feb. 9, marking the first studio album release for the star since 2016.

The multi-time Grammy winner received positive feedback from fans following the announcement, with some saying they’re only tuning into Super Bowl LVIII to watch Usher’s halftime show.

The Big Game is scheduled for Feb. 11 at 6:30 PM ET, 3:30 PM Pacific, and 11:30 PM in the UK. There’s no set time for Usher’s performance to begin, so monitor the action closely.
