Amazon Prime Video’s Marry My Husband has taken the K-drama fandom by storm with its riveting live-action adaptation of the popular webtoon – with the K-drama now having broken streaming records.

The K-drama started off 2024 with a bang and has continued its steady steady rise in popularity since its first episode. Marry My Husband captured attention as veteran actor Park Min-young starred as the female lead Ji-won.

Per the webtoon, Ji-won is quiet and kind. But, her life is anything but a fairytale. She’s married to a man who doesn’t have a job and a mother-in-law who berates her. She soon learns she has terminal cancer and her husband has been cheating on her with her best friend. When they accidentally killed her, she’s given a second chance to live the life she deserves.

Marry My Husband has been praised for its multiple plot twists that enthralled fans at every turn. With the K-drama now having reached its official end, it’s received a notable accolade no drama has done before on Prime Video.

Marry My Husband takes the top spot

With its success among global fans, Marry My Husband has secured the top spot in Amazon Prime Video’s global daily TV show rankings.

Created by Studio Dragon, Marry My Husband is not the first K-drama that reached global success from the production company. Netflix’s The Glory was also praised for its storyline and impactful acting from its cast.

But according to AllKpop, Marry My Husband is the first ever K-drama to take the number one spot on Prime Video since its inception in 2016. It’s beaten series like Reacher Season 2, The Boys, and Hazbin Hotel. It’s even battling Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

It secured high ranking in not only Asian countries, but Europe, the United States, and Canada. According to Soompi, the K-drama’s finale led to its highest ratings since its release at 12.0 percent. Marry My Husband also retained its number one spot for six weeks total on Good Data Corporation’s weekly list of the TV dramas that generated the most buzz. They calculate a score based on social media, articles, blog posts, and online forums.

The success of the K-drama has also led tvN to gift its leading cast an all-paid vacation for their work. Something tvN hasn’t done in a long time with a K-drama. Soompi also reported Marry My Husband is in talks to receive a Japanese drama adaptation.
