Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios has rallied players to help unlock mechs from an invading robot force.

Helldivers 2’s evolving world is one of the coolest things about the multiplayer game. The connected universe everyone is a part of helps to give a sense of communal effort that is all part of the fun. There have been many successful attempts to liberate planets, and some less successful, but it’s always a shared drive to get a war effort together.

On top of that, the game is just a ton of fun and ever-evolving. We’ve recently just got a new patch (which did hit some key weapons with nerfs), and there’s more on the horizon. We’ve known for a little bit that mechs are on their way, which had already been confirmed by the developer. However, when exactly those will be deployed hasn’t always been clear.

However, it seems we’re about to get some movement on that, and what’s more, it seems the release might be community-driven.

Players may need to liberate Tien Kwan to get Mechs in Helldivers 2

In a tweet by the main Helldivers 2 Twitter/X account, Arrowhead Games Studios has rallied players to help liberate planet Tien Kwan. In the fiction, it was confirmed several days ago that the mechs were being created on the planet

However, it seems those pesky robots are here to spoil the fun. Tien Kwan is now under attack by Exos, halting production of the mechs. The latest Tweet reads: “This is not a drill! Our factories are under attack, halting all output. Helldivers have been deployed to liberate Tien Kwan!”.

Players will now have to band together and help take the planet back to unlock the mechs it seems. It’s not confirmed if liberating the planet will bring immediate access to mechs, but it seems it will be linked.

This connected world is really fun and makes the game feel alive. Especially with canonical story events like this everyone is a part of, it helps make Helldivers 2 really unique. Here’s hoping we see more of these events, and of course, the liberation of Tien Kwan so we can get mechs to play with.
