Verstappen is the defending champion

The first race of the new Formula 1 season takes place this weekend, with Max Verstappen’s title defence kicking off in Bahrain.

Verstappen has won each of the last three Drivers’ Championships and is the overwhelming favourite to win a fourth in a row.

Red Bull impressed in testing last week, with Verstappen and teammate Sergio Perez clocking the fastest lap times on days one and two respectively.

And Red Bull will go into the season with their team principal Christian Horner still at the helm after he was cleared of misconduct following an external investigation into allegations made by a female employee.

That means Horner and Red Bull can put their full focus on the track when race day comes around.

What channel will the race be shown on?

In the UK the race will be shown on Sky Sports’ F1 channel, while viewers can also watch the race live with a NOW TV subscription.

Meanwhile, ESPN+ will air the race in the United States.

When is the Bahrain GP? What time does the race start?

The Bahrain GP takes place on Saturday, March 2. For fans watching in the UK, the race will begin at 3pm. In the US, the race starts at 10am Eastern time and 7am Pacific time.
