Yoruichi Shihōin is ready to guard your soul in epic Bleach cosplay

A cosplayer has shown off their incredible version of Yoruichi Shihōin, one of the Soul Reapers who protect those going through the circle of transmigration in popular anime Bleach.

Bleach follows the story of Ichigo Kurosaki, a young man who obtains the power of a Soul Reaper, or Shinigami, from another member of this mystical group. This forces him to take on the duties that come with his ability to see ghosts and evil spirits, protecting civilians from these magical beings who intend to do them harm, and guiding those who have passed on to the afterlife.

Yoruichi Shihōin is a military expert, captaining the 2nd Division of the Gotei 13, the Soul Society division that most Shinigami first join, and was also the commander of the Onmitsukido before abandoning her positions of power to lead a more simple life. Working out of the Urahara Shop, she sells special Soul Reaper items alongside Kisuke Urahara and Tessai Tskuabishi.

Toruichi left behind the Soul Reapers to work in a store.

Shihōin is well-respected among Bleach fans, known for intelligence and wit, the princess-turned-commander has a knowledge of the Soul Society and the Soul Repeapers that few others possess. Clearly steely and determined, what makes Yoruichi so likable is her laidback nature and the ease of which she can laugh and joke with others, making her the perfect mix of determination and friendliness.

It’s no surprise then that many Bleach fans choose to cosplay as Shihōin, and Instagram user uniquesora became to the latest to show her appreciation for the character.

She showed off her incredibly accurate rendition of the character, which she debuted at SaCAnime, an anime and cosplay expo that takes place in Sacramento, California.

Uniquesora has captured the Soul Reaper perfectly, with her purple hair split into bangs that cover both sides of her face, with a large ponytail at the back just like the character.

Even her outfit is super impressive, including the same logo on her chest that Shihōin sports, the white scarf around her neck, and purple-and-white wrist straps that tie everything together along with the unmissable orange belt.

Every detail has been accounted for, with uniquesora even putting in special contact lenses to make her eyes look more like a cat, a direct reference to the character who can shape-shift into a feline when she pleases.

Unsurprisingly, the people in her comments were big fans, telling her she had “nailed it” and thanking her for cosplaying as their favorite character.
