Tyson Fury reveals update on eye injury ahead of undisputed world title fight
YouTube: Matchroom BoxingTyson Fury has insisted he will be fighting Oleksandr Usyk “cut eye or not” after he picked up the injury in sparring last month.
Fury and Usyk were due to clash in a huge fight on February 17 in Saudi Arabia. However, the injury sustained by the the Gypsy King in sparring meant he needed 11 stitches as the bout was postponed.
The fight has now been rescheduled for May 18, with Fury commencing his training camp at the end of the month.
Fury has flown out to Saudi Arabia ahead of Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou, lending his support to Roman Fury, his younger brother, ahead of his bout against Martin Svarc.
And during Wednesday’s press conference, Fury was asked for an update on his injury.

“I’m not concerned I never was concerned about the cut,” he told DAZN.
“It was from cut date to fight date 15 weeks. A cut heals in about eight, nine weeks, I had plenty of time.
“And if the cut opens, opens in the fight, f**k it. It’s gonna be blood everywhere.
“So why not, don’t stop the fight, let it continue. It’s an undisputed heavyweight championship fight.”
Asked if his eye was likely to cause any further issues ahead of the fight, Fury was adamant it would not hold him back.
“When I start camp at the end of March I’ll be ready for sparring,” he added.
“It was a freak accident. You know, I think he just threw like a hook…but make no mistake…I will be fighting – cut eye or not.”
