A Baldur’s Gate 3 player has shared a heartwarming story of their girlfriend’s first interaction with Gale, and the reason she loves him.

The relationships that players form with the characters of Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the game’s most popular aspects in the community.

Stories of how people react to their favorite characters or how their loved ones view them can be found all over social media.

Now, such a story has been shared by one player whose girlfriend has fallen in love with Gale for the absolute best reason.

The story can be found on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit in a post titled: “My GF has surprised me.”

The poster explains how they had their girlfriend begin a playthrough of the game for Valentine’s Day, and they anticipated her going for Astarion based on her style preferences and the books that she reads.

However, she shocked them by, instead, falling for Gale, and her reasoning is completely heartwarming:

“I’ve heard people refer to Gale as the golden receiver boy of the group, but I never saw it myself until my girlfriend of almost six years decided that he was the end all, be all of sheer male attraction. Honestly, I’m flabbergasted by this turn of events.”

He explains that they are, in fact, the golden retriever type of boyfriend, meaning that his girlfriend falls for Gale because he is a reminder of her real-life partner.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 community is blown away by the sentimentality of the story, with many other fans sharing similar experiences:

“My golden retriever fiance was really hyped to show me, a nice girl who tries really hard to look all edgy and goth (wanna guess who he romanced?), BG3 solely for Astarion. I like vamps, blondes and this cheesy romance vibe so… Of course I fell hard for Gale lol.”

It appears that Gale has charmed so many Baldur’s Gate 3 players, in fact, that some have begun to name him the “Rizzard of Waterdeep.”

It’s a heartwarming story that shows, again, how much this game has resonated with players and newcomers alike.
