Apex Legends Crypto character could be melee specialist the game needs

Fans of Apex Legends have already begun conjuring up ideas for the newly-leaked legend Crypto ahead of the start of season two.

Apex Legends players are gearing up for the release of the second round of seasonal content on July 2, with the possibility of being able to play as two new legends.

One long-awaited Legend – Wattson – was seemingly set to be the only new character released in season two. However, dataminers uncovered the possibility of another – Crypto. While not too much is known about the mysterious character, some players have begun theorizing as to what their abilities might be, based on the hints that have been leaked so far.

EA LivestreamFans have been waiting for Wattson since Respawn released Apex Legends: Wild Frontier.

In a post to the Apex Legends subreddit, user 10EXP took the previously revealed information and spun it into their own concept for the character. As with the other legends, Crypto would need three abilities – a passive, tactical, and an ultimate.

10EXP provided their idea behind that, giving the character a real close-quarters combat feel, using the sword that they have in the datamined images. For the passive, Crypto would deal extra melee damage, while the tactical would allow them to block incoming attacks with a few swings of said sword.

As for the ultimate, well, that’s already been pointed towards elsewhere. The character is seemingly set to have a Jamming ability that would allow them to disrupt other players abilities and know when other ultimates have been deployed.

Now, these ideas are purely theoretical and not confirmed as Crypto’s abilities, but it might not be a million miles away. The ability to JAM other ultimates did rear its head in the recent data mine and would seemingly play a role with the character – but maybe not as an ultimate.

With the launch of season two just around the corner, it won’t be long before Respawn reveals the official information about their content – as well as confirming if we’ll see two new legends or just the one.
