Haney and Garcia faced off

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney wasted no time in laying hands on each other after confirmation of their blockbuster bout on April 20.

Garcia and Haney will meet in Las Vegas in a couple of months, with the WBC super lightweight title on the line.

Just a day after the fight was confirmed, Garcia shared a video of the pair squaring up and engaging in typical boxing trash talk.

The trash-talking begins

After accusing Haney’s dad of ‘pimping’ his son out, Garcia soon moved on to talk about the famous Haney-Gervonta Davis sparring session from a few years ago.

Garcia said: “We’ve seen that video when Tank beat your ass, Floyd showed me and he had your ass like… I’ve seen the video, I’ve seen the video, I’ve seen the video.”

Haney responded: “I’d beat the s*** out of Tank and I’d beat the s*** out of you, I’d beat the s*** out of you.”

The following video contains offensive language

Although there is no footage of the sparring session in question, Davis and others have previously claimed that ‘Tank’ did indeed rock Haney.

Two years ago, Davis said: “It was more so of, back and forth, and then once I got tired, it was like a little, he picked up like a little bit. But it was nothing like crazy, like boom, boom, boom. I don’t even talk about like, I caught him in the sparring match and almost knocked him out.

“Like Adrien (Broner) jumped in the ring and like nah it’s over and everybody was just about to fight. Because I caught him and almost knocked him out.”

Adrien Broner recalled the sparring session last year, saying: “He sparred Devin. It’s packed as hot, they get in there. ‘Tank’ hit him, he hit him… boom! Then he hit him again and he like went out. I jumped in the ring, because at the time Devin was 17.

“Once they got going, Devin got the best of him, but in a real fight time, with 8oz gloves… bye!”
