Epic Games reveal when planes will be finally removed from Fortnite

Ever since the X-4 Storming was introduced to Fortnite on December 6, Epic Games haven’t stopped hearing the end of the arguments about the plane’s inclusion in the battle royale. But that might end soon.

During a Reddit AMA on February 22, Fortnite’s Design Lead Eric Williamson confirmed that the X-4 Stormwing would be vaulted at the start of Season 8.

The announcement came to the surprise of many since, although controversial for the pro community, the X-4 has become an increasingly popular vehicle for casual players to have fun in.

The controversial planes will finally leave Fortnite at the start of Season 8.

The Stormwing’s announcement and build up to its release had players cheering for a fresh element that would take the battle toward the skies. But the implementation soon had some people using unfair tactics with the plane to camp in the sky until the final circle.

The X-4 also brought a slew of bugs to the game ranging from instant deaths, making items unusable, and many more. Very shortly after release players started to turn against the Stormwing, asking for it to leave the game quicker than it arrived.

Williamson’s announcement was met with polarizing fervor from the community, as some cheered that the planes were finally going to be grounded while others were disappointed that the developer’s were giving in to a “vocal minority.”

“You guys are listening way too much to the vocal minority,” Reddit user 2roK said. “I feel like so much fun stuff was vaulted lately and no end in sight. Do you realize you slowly kill the game for casuals by catering so much to the competitive players lately?”

With Season 8 fast approaching, Williamson advised players to get in their last runs before the next era in Fortnite locks away the Stormwing for a while.
