Former LoL pro calls out “useless” LCS managers and coaches

After spending years in the LCS as a top laner, former LoL pro Revenge announced his retirement hot off the best split of his career. He cited a lack of job security and a desire to go back to university as his main reasons for stepping back, though he felt there was more he could do as a pro player.
Revenge guest starred on an episode of Hotline League after his retirement to talk about his time in the LCS, and he didn’t pull any punches when talking about the ecosystem.
While he felt there were some exceptions, he claimed that 90% of coaches are “useless” and called out team managers as a whole, saying they were “r*tarded” on the latest episode of Travis Gafford’s Hotline League.
Revenge slams LCS management and coaching staff
Revenge spent most of his time in the LCS proper on Immortals, a team that may have peaked on their debut 2016 split. While their current roster is doing much better than expected, the team has spent years languishing at the bottom of the standings. And then IMT decided to replace him with Solo for Summer 2023.

That is why you are a bottom team. That is why you should not run this org. If you’re willing to make me teamless to sign someone else, given how [Solo] played that split and how I played that split, you don’t understand the game and you have no idea how to build a team.”
Revenge also claimed that it seemed like IMT’s motto was to “go 10th” anyways, so he didn’t have the utmost faith in his organization. He didn’t feel great about EG, either, claiming they had the infrastructure of a “bottom team” after the layoffs, something supported by Dexerto’s report that even EG’s management expected the team to fail.
He’d go on to claim that “90% of coaches are useless”, and didn’t have kind words for most LCS teams’ general managers either. It started with Revenge praising GoldenGlue, a coach who has been able to help guide 100 Thieves into being an unlikely top contender in the LCS.
However, GoldenGlue’s success with a team of young talents also gave Revenge reason to believe that other managers within the LCS aren’t doing a great job of building teams.
“I’m so happy [Goldenglue] is finally in a head coaching position. The guy’s got such a great personality and understanding of how to be a coach. He’s such a great example of how r*tarded GMs are in esports. I’m sorry to say it, but, like – I know some of you guys are watching, but you guys are so r*tarded sometimes.”
Revenge wasn’t all negative when it came to answering questions about his time in the LCS, though. He had some kind words for former teammates like IgNar and jojopyun and doesn’t seem to regret that he took the plunge into pro play.
However, his disdain for some of the people working behind the scenes at the LCS was abundantly clear. He, and many other pros who had great showings last year, have been left teamless. It remains to be seen if any other LCS players follow Revenge’s suit and opt to stop looking for new teams.
