Nadeshot Confirms He Planned to Compete in WWII with Original Ground Zero Roster
100 Thieves founder and former professional CoD player Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag revealed that he almost returned to competition at the start of the WWII season, and even had a roster lined up.
Nadeshot retired from competing in 2015, after a disappointing 7th place at the World Championship, and focused on his YouTube channel, before starting his own organization a year later.
But despite being a succesful YouTuber and having his 100 Thieves organization enter the NA LCS, Nadeshot’s itch for competition almost got the best of him.
The ‘Ground Zero’ team at the start of the WWII season consisted of Chris “Parasite” Duarte, Maurice “Fero” Henriquez, Rasim “Blazt” Ogresevic and Marcus “MBoZe” Blanks.
We reported that it was rumored at the start of the season that this would be the lineup for 100 Thieves, with Nadeshot in place of MBoZe, but it never came to fruition.
And Nadeshot has now confirmed that those rumors were true.
“Me and Fero were going to team for WWII. It was going to be me, Fero, Blazt and Parasite.”
Ground Zero, with MBoZe on the roster, managed top eight in their first CWL 2K tournament together, but MBoZe then dropped his ambitions of competing in the WWII season.
The team recruited Jeremy “StuDyy” Astacio in his place, and this lineup managed top 12 at the first open tournament of the season, CWL Dallas.
After splitting, Fero went on to have the best season, joining Team Kaliber after Stage One, winning his first event with tK at Stage Two Playoffs, and finishing 2nd at the World Championship.
Thanks to his performances, he earned his spot on Nadeshot’s 100 Thieves roster for the Black Ops 4 season, although it’s unlikely Nade will be playing on this one.
