Battlefield 6 makes key Rush change during Open Beta but fans want more

Battlefield 6 is back in Open Beta, with hundreds of thousands of players looking to dive in and try the new maps, grab the new challenges, and most importantly, play Rush all over again. However, the new mode hasn’t exactly been popular.

Rush is a fan favorite mode for Battlefield. Think of it like CoD’s Search and Destroy. Rush pits players against one another as Defenders or Attackers. The Attackers have to plant and protect a bomb, and the Defenders have to disable the bomb or stop the Attackers from placing it in the first place.

Now it’s finally back in Battlefield 6, but not quite as players remembered it, with changes to weapons, map size, population, and bomb timer. As such, the mode was met with plenty of backlash, to which DICE has made some key changes. But players still aren’t happy.

BF6 reduces Rush bomb time, but players don’t think it’s enough

Just one day after the Open Beta introduced Rush to Battlefield 6, the developers announced on X that there have now been “MCOM Timer Changes to Rush.”

“We’ve just made a change to Rush: the MCOM timer is now reduced from 45 to 30 seconds to better the balance between attacking and defending players. We’ll continue to monitor and are ready and able to make further balance adjustments,” said the post, revealing the bomb will now take less time to explode.

While this has been well received by some players, the comments and sentiment among the community focused on expressing that it wasn’t enough. What they really want is a change to the game size.

“That’s the change you decided to make? Not the 12v12?” asked one confused player, while another echoed the same sentiment: “Why is Rush only 12 v 12? Bring it back to its original form”

Previously, Rush was 32 v 32, meaning this is a considerable reduction in comparison to how many remember it.

As such, many are demanding an increase in the player count: “Plz add more players to rush like 16vs16 or 20vs20.”

Despite this, some fans have explored the change to the gamemode and have said it “made a very large difference,” meaning there are steps being taken to make Rush a little more community-friendly.

In the post, the developers explain that “We’ll continue to monitor and are ready and able to make further balance adjustments,” meaning changes, and potentially a player count increase could be on the way. After all, we’re only in Open Beta.
