Boston Red Sox Pitcher David Price Potentially Set to Quit Fortnite, Video Games Following Carpel Tunnel Diagnosis

Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price claims he may need to take a step back from video games and Fortnite: Battle Royale after developing Carpel Tunnel.

In recent years, few games have been able to reach a fraction of the popularity that has been generated by the wildly popular Fortnite: Battle Royale over the course of 2018.

With such a massive amount of name recognition and praise, Fortnite shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, especially with Epic Games introducing a collection of new content on a regular basis.

Various celebrities and other notable figures have been found playing the title, with Fortnite effectively breaking into mainstream culture unlike any video game before it.

Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price has gotten swept up into the phenomenon that is Fortnite: Battle Royale, however, claims that he may need to take a step back from video games in general when speaking to ESPN after he needed to miss a scheduled start against the New York Yankees due to a Carpel Tunnel Diagnosis.

“I’ve always played [Fortnite] with my teammates, during the offseason, at the field, at the hotel […] That’s kind of my generation. That’s what we do. If I need to shut down video games and pick up a new hobby, then so be it. But I do not think that’s the cause.”

Although he may play a lot of Fortnite recently, Price mentioned that he has been an avid gamer for years after receiving his first PlayStation over 20 years ago.

“If that was the cause of the problem, it started back in 1997 when I got my first PlayStation when I was 12 years old […] This is just something that happened over time. This didn’t stem from any one thing […] I’m born in 1985, so that’s the video games generation. Being a Red Sox is the least amount of video games I’ve ever played being in Major League Baseball.”

Price is scheduled to return on Saturday, May 12th with a start against the Toronto Blue Jays, however, it is unknown if he will remain in the lineup as of writing.
