Even after NAVI’s dominant BLAST Premier Global Finals display against Astralis with a 2-0 victory, Richard Lewis explains why it’s likely that there won’t be an all-powerful side in 2021 due to the ongoing online era.
NAVI won the event in style, yes, but online play is here to stay in 2021, and Richard believes that could throw up some truly fascinating results. With plenty of different teams adding tournament victories to their resumes, who will come out of 2021 with the crowning glory is anyone’s guess.
The NAVI win, for many, could prove surprising, especially considering the fact that the team has had to battle their way back through a Lower Bracket ranking. It was a great result for the team, with Lewis even going so far as to say that they could potentially become number one in the world if 2021 works out just as 2020 should have.
With a whole host of changes redefining the landscape of the Counter-Strike professional experience such as regional locks and stats that aren’t reliable, 2021 could shape up to be what competitive CS should be, especially with a Major having been announced. However, with FaZe Clan touting the arrival of Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen and Russel ‘Twistzz’ Van Dulken, the potential for them dominating the landscape is looming over the opposition’s backs.
