Final Destination: Bloodlines – Release date, trailer, Tony Todd & more

Final Destination 6 (aka Bloodlines) is happening, and the release date isn’t far away at all.
The Final Destination horror franchise was first unleashed in 2000, with a group of high school students narrowly escaping death on a plane to Paris after one of them has a premonition. Death isn’t pleased with this, and begins recouping his victims.
A group of young people go somewhere, one has a vision, they cheat death, and they all start dying in horrible, Rube Goldbergian ways: this is the format that led to four sequels and more than $650 million at the box office.
A new movie is officially in the works, so here’s what we know about the long-awaited installment, including its release date, trailer, cast, plot, and other details.
Final Destination: Bloodlines release date
Final Destination: Bloodlines will be released on May 16, 2025.
After much anticipation, the news was announced in January 2025, with confirmation that the title would be Final Destination: Bloodlines. That’s just in time for the 25th anniversary of the franchise.
At the time the release year was announced, it was also revealed that Final Destination 6 would have an IMAX theatrical run.
The sixth film has been in the works since 2019. However, it’s endured stop-start development as a result of global restrictions and different writers being brought in, and the writers’ strike has stalled any work on it.
Is there a trailer?
Yes! The Final Destination: Bloodlines trailer was released on February 3, and you can watch it for yourself below.
Of course, it doesn’t give much away. We do get a full look at one of the movie’s new kills, which features a tattoo artist getting hoisted up into the ceiling fan by his nose piercing. (Ouch!) When he breaks free, he falls onto the fiery floor below.
Final Destination is back, baby.
Who’s in the Final Destination 6 cast?
There’s limited info on the Final Destination 6 cast and characters, but it includes the following:
- Brec Bassinger as TBC
- Teo Briones as TBC
- Kaitlyn Santa Juana as TBC
- Richard Harmon as TBC
- Anna Lore as TBC
- Owen Patrick Joyner as TBC
- Max Lloyd-Jones as TBC
- Rya Kihlstedt as TBC
- Tinpo Lee as TBC
- Tony Todd as TBC
Yes, you read that right. Tony Todd is back, and although details are limited, it’s very likely he’ll be returning as William Bludworth. His appearance was rumored for a long time, and the actor died in November 2024. However, Warner Bros. have since announced that he’ll be part of the cast.
It’s possible there may be come cameos from other previous cast members on the line, too, but as we know, but of the characters from the franchise are…well, dead.
However, two stars from the original movies have expressed interest in returning. Devon Sawa, who played Alex in the original movie, told MovieWeb: “If you were in Vegas right now laying some big money down, I wouldn’t put it on me coming back, but of course.

“I’ve watched every one of those movies since they’ve come out. But I think the ship has sailed. I’m getting a little older. I think they’re gonna be going with a new, young cast, but yeah man, I would do it. I would do it in a heartbeat.”
The sequel will be directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who also directed 2018’s Freaks. Producer Craig Perry has also returned, working alongside Sheila Hanahan Taylor and Jon Watts – yes, the same Jon Watts who directed Spider-Man: No Way Home.
What will Final Destination: Bloodlines be about?
Final Destination: Bloodlines will follow a young woman who sets about trying to understand why her family is cursed to have gruesome deaths.
The official synopsis reads: “Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.”
This sounds like it could break the pattern of previous movies. Instead of narrowly avoiding a major accident, it sounds as though Stefanie will witness the deaths of her family through a nightmare instead, preventing them before they happen as the film goes on.

Final Destination: Bloodlines could have turned out very differently, according to producer Craig Perry.
“We’re toying with having it take place in the world of first responders: EMTs, firemen, and police,” he said [via Digital Spy]. “These people deal with death on the front lines every day and make choices that can cause people to live or die. We rely on their good judgment, expertise, and calm demeanor.”
Franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick has said that the sixth installment will be “a true Final Destination movie, but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve kind of established,” via Hidden Remote.
