“King of Chess” Magnus Carlsen selects a Secretlab gaming chair as his throne

Carlsen is best known for his legendary career in playing chess, having started playing back in 2004. He made headlines as he dominated the Corus chess tournament. Most recently, he won the 2021 World Chess Championship. But, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he would stream on Twitch.
Known for their esports and Twitch presence, the Secretlab chairs have built up a reputation of being one of the highest-quality gaming chairs around, and they’re only getting better after the release of the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022. Now, Secretlab is partnering with him (and the Meltwater Chess Tour) by supplying the world champion and the other players with the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022. Carlsen focussed on getting the right chair after he viewed other players suffering from cramps, or even headaches due to bad posture in uncomfortable chairs provided during Chess events. While it’s likely he won’t be wheeling the Titan Evo 2022 into the Netherlands chess tournament, the brand will be following him into the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour.
“Especially with the increasing number of online tournaments these past years, having a good chair is crucial for a chess player and I feel very comfortable competing in my Secretlab chair.” Carlsen stated in a press release.
Meltwater Champions Tour director Arne Horvei added in a statement: ‘Thanks to Secretlab, the players are enjoying a new level of comfort as they compete.” They continue: ‘These players often have to sit for long periods concentrating hard – the last thing they need is a chair that doesn’t support them well. These Secretlab chairs are designed specifically for that.”
Secretlab’s own Alaric Choo, co-founder and the CSO for the company said that the chairs have already been used in training sessions:
“Being at the top of the highest level in any field, it is a game of inches, especially so for chess where they spend long hours seated and cannot afford any distraction. Magnus has already been using our chairs in training, so it only makes sense to use what he prefers and is most comfortable with at the highest level of competitive play.”
Meltwater Champions Chess Tour began on February 9, 2022, and will continue until November. They have been busy broadcasting the tournament on their Twitch channel.
