Pokemon TCG collectors – this one’s for you. A brand new Pokemon trading card experience is coming soon to mobile devices.

Are you a Pokemon trading card game fan? If so, you may be pleased to hear that an upcoming Pokemon TCG experience was revealed during the 2024 Pokemon Day celebrations.

Following the conclusion of the 2024 Pokemon World Championships, fans were finally treated to an announcement trailer for TCG Pocket after months of anticipation.

Pokemon TCG Pocket looks like the ideal app for the more casual players and collectors in the community, and it’s got a whole host of exciting features. Here’s what you need to know about the release date, key features like trading, and more.

What is Pokemon TCG Pocket?

Popping up in Pokemon Presents, Pokemon TCG Pocket is a collection-oriented TCG app with plenty of social features. It’ll allow players to store a digital collection of cards and let them “open two packs per day at no cost.”

The cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket look particularly gorgeous, with vibrant designs that expand when tapped on. The act of opening packs looks immersive, too, so it should be great for collectors who enjoy ripping into boosters.

Release date & how to pre-order

Pokemon TCG Pocket will be available on the Apple Store and Google Play on October 30, 2024.

However, those eager to get their hands on the new mobile app can pre-order and register for the game here ahead of its launch.

Pokemon TCG Pocket mechanics

Pokemon TCG Pocket resembles something like Marvel Snap or Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Links.

According to the official app description, users can “open two booster packs every day at no cost. You can collect digital cards featuring nostalgic artwork from the past as well as brand-new cards that are exclusive to Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket.”

Furthermore, the game will feature brand new “immersive cards” that, as described by the devs, “will make you feel as though you’ve leapt into the world of the card’s illustration.”

Quick battles look like a much simpler version of the standard Pokemon TCG gameplay, so users can “enjoy casual battles during quick breaks” throughout their day.
