Pokemon Go: Where is Team Rocket’s Giovanni?

Team Rocket are well and truly part of the Pokemon Go world but where is their boss, Giovanni?

The official Pokemon Go Twitter account was taken over by Team Rocket themselves in July, teasing the arrival of Giovanni. In one cryptic tweet, the figure of the Team Rocket boss could be seen, leading trainers to believe his arrival was imminent.

However, fast forward nearly two months and he is nowhere to be seen. The only sighting of the former Viridian City gym leader has been at Pokemon Go Fest Yokohama where he would photobomb trainers’ SnapShot pictures.

With Team Rocket already wrecking havoc on the Pokemon Go world and stealing items from PokeStops, at this point, Giovanni’s introduction seemed like the next logical step.

Whether his continued absence from the game was all part of the plan or something else came up, will perhaps remain unknown. In fact, minus the below image teasing him, there has been no mention of the Team Rocket lead figure.

Coming October 8?

One trainer has speculated his arrival has been delayed on purpose, when Pokemon Go shared an interesting Tweet. “Trainers, the make-up Legendary Raid Hour featuring Mewtwo with the move Psystrike will be on October 8, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. Stay tuned for details.”

This legendary raid hour had been scheduled for September 18 but was changed without reason. One reply may have got Pokemon Go trainers thinking its delay could be at the hands of Giovanni. “I wonder what made the problem I think Giovanni did this,” said Twitter user sligooof.

Is Giovanni coming or not?

An encounter with the Team Rocket boss remains a strong possibility, with October 8 now being a potential date for his arrival. It will be interesting to see how he is integrated into the game and could even introduce ultra-shadow Pokemon such as Lugia.

We’ll have to wait and see what Niantic have up their sleeves but one thing is for sure is that they are pushing Team Rocket’s invasion hard. Community days and new features such as PvP battling didn’t even get this type of treatment.
