The new Pokemon game scheduled for late 2019 is eagerly anticipated. Leaks, rumours and even supposed screenshots are currently doing the rounds throughout the Pokemon community.
Despite being a long way from release, we do have some confirmed details for Pokemon 2019. The next Pokemon game will be a brand new release, following on from Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
Whilst Pokemon Let's Go isn't a remake, it is considered to be a spin-off from the main series of Pokemon games. This didn't stop Let's Go from being a huge success commercially, however.
Furthermore, the new Pokemon game will be completely different from Pokemon Let's Go. In an interview with Famitsu Magazine, Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara confirmed this by saying, "The new title coming out in the second half of 2019 will be a completely different game. It is not an entry game, but a game that we want longtime fans of the Pokemon series to look forward to."
He added: "We want to make Pokemon fans say ‘this is what I’ve been waiting for’ by delivering a brand new product packed with gameplay elements and plenty of new Pokemon to encounter." This will be music to the ears of gamers who felt that Pokemon Let's Go was a little too simple.
Before a new Pokemon game is released, rumours often spread around the internet. This results in some sources claiming to have access to leaks.
The most interesting of which suggests that further information could be announced as soon as mid-February. Moreover, the brand new generation 8 Pokemon could also be confirmed for the 2019 game within that announcement. In addition to this, mega evolutions and the return of gyms will also feature.
These leaks come from a now deleted forum post, and the validity of them is open for debate. However, these predictions do seem reasonable, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Another image that has recently been going semi-viral is an apparent screenshot of what the new Pokemon 2019 game could look like.
The image shows a Pokemon game in an entirely new light to what we've seen before. Interestingly, it looks very similar to Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch.
We were unable to trace the origins of this image so if you have any information on this let us know on our Pokemon Twitter page.
