How to evolve Eevee into Leafeon or Glaceon without a lure module – nickname trick

Leafeon and Glaceon finally in Pokemon Go
Ever since Gen 4 first came to Pokemon Go in October 2018, Pokemon trainers had been awaiting the introduction of the latest Eeveelutions.
Since then an array of generation 4 Pokemon were released until, as of 17 May, 24 were remaining. The latest batch includes Leafeon and Glaceon.
The mossy and glacial lures modules can cause Eevee to evolve into Leafeon and Glaceon…A recent datamine from May 6 showed the addition of the new lure modules. A new feature in comparison to the standard lure modules is that, according to their description, can cause some Pokemon to evolve.
Two of these, the mossy and glacial lure module, cause Eevee to evolve into Leafeon and Glaceon respectively. It is important to make sure the evolution button isn’t showing the usual question mark Eevee evolution symbol and rather its new evolution when performing the evolution.

While Pokemon fans will be excited to add the latest Eevee evolutions to their collections, it does currently come behind a pay wall unless you have earned Pokecoins through gym battles. The new lure modules have to be purchased through the Pokemon Go shop at a cost of 200 Pokecoins for each.
However, Niantic have confirmed that they will be available through completing future special research tasks at a later date.

Eevee nicknames
There is a trick to get Leafeon and Glaceon without using the new lure modules and that is with the Eevee nickname trick.
Long-term and astute Pokemon Go trainers will know that the older Eevee evolutions such as Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon can be chosen by giving Eevee a particular nickname.

The same applies to Leafeon and Glaceon whereby a particular nickname will result in their evolution. They are as follows:
- Leafeon: Nickname your Eevee “Linnea”
- Glaceon: Nickname your Eevee “Rea”
The evolution button should now show the outline of your desired Eevee evolution.
It’s as simple as that, skip the process of purchasing lure modules and get the Eeveelutions by just changing their name!
