Wrecking Ball is one of the fastest and most maneuverable heroes in the game, and a large part of impact comes from making the most of that movement.

Perhaps even more so than most other heroes in Overwatch, therefore, it’s important for Wrecking Ball players to have an extensive repertoire of tricks and tactics for capitalizing on his capabilities.

KarQ brings on Yeatle, a top-500 North American player whose main hero is Wrecking Ball, to go over a useful trick for each map.

Yeatle highlights key locations where Wrecking Ball can inflict the most damage or be the most disruptive, as well as explaining exactly where players need to aim their grappling hook in order to reach certain locations or catch enemies off guard.

He also highlights that the maximum combo for Wrecking Ball players to aim for is a full 150 damage – 50 from the knockback on his swing, and 100 from the piledriver, so the ability to burst down lower-health heroes like supports and DPS is quite high if you can land it correctly.

While Wrecking Ball doesn’t have a hugely prominent place in the current prevailing meta – the infamous “GOATS” composition – the inevitable churn of balance updates will undoubtedly eventually give a hero as unique as Wrecking Ball a powerful role to play, a process which may even have already begun.
