The Paris Overwatch League franchise team name might have been figured out.

It appears that Paris owners DM Esports have applied for a trademark for the name “Paris Eternal” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

The trademark, which was noticed and shared by u/ClumsyLi, was filed on October 26. According to the USPTO the application itself has been accepted but it has not yet been assigned to an examiner.

DM Esports is a group led by Drew McCourt, President of McCourt Global which also owns the Olympique de Marseille football club.

Paris have already announced their full roster, the first of the eight new expansion teams to do so. The team is headlined by two high-profile DPS players in Terrence ‘SoOn’ Tarlier and George ‘ShaDowBurn’ Gushcha, and is the first Overwatch League roster to be made up entirely of European players.

Paris isn’t the first team to have their name potentially leaked by a trademark application. Overwatch fans previously caught the Hangzhou expansion franchise applying to trademark the name “Hangzhou Railgun”. They have also yet to confirm their name, however.

So far, only two of the new teams have confirmed their branding – the Atlanta Reign and the Toronto Defiant, both of whom have now announced the majority of their rosters. Washington and Guangzhou have revealed one player each, while no news at all has come from Chengdu, Hangzhou, or Vancouver.
