XL2 Academy player Liam ‘Mangachu’ Campbell put the hammer down at the Tip of the Hats charity event.
Tip of the Hats is a charity event that this year featured several Overwatch personalities, including Overwatch League talent and former pro player Brandon ‘Seagull’ Larned. The event benefits Camp One Step, a charity for children with cancer.
The three-day broadcast featured a variety of different games, including various fun game-modes or unique challenges, such as the “three-legged gamer” mode which saw pairs battle with one player controlling the keyboard and the other the mouse.
Several of the matches took place in Overwatch, and Mangachu took the opportunity to unleash on a hero he doesn’t get to play in real competitive matches – Torbjörn. In particular, Mangachu made a point of attempting kills with Torbjörn’s hammer, arguably the least effective weapon in the game.
Over the course of the match, several prominent players fell beneath Mangachu’s hammer. His victims included several current and former pro players, but it was LA Valiant’s Scott ‘Custa’ Kennedy who suffered the most deaths at the hands of Mangachu’s Torbjörn.

As well as simply offering entertainment value, Mangachu’s Torbjörn contributed to the fundraiser directly, as Overwatch League analyst Joshua ‘SideShow’ Wilkinson apparently offered $50 for every hammer kill.
In total, the event raised more than $220,000 for Camp One Step, the most they’ve ever raised in a single year, and raising their total donated to $968,946.
Torbjörn has long been perhaps the most neglected hero in Overwatch, but that’s set to change as a major rework is currently being tested on the PTR. The overhaul is designed to make Torbjörn more viable in a wider range of scenarios, which should in theory boost both his play and win rate.
