Overwatch fans have already made IRL Sigma balls

The surprise PTR release may have been a birthday present for Seagull, but it was also a great gift to Overwatch players, who have been obsessing over every detail of Sigma since.

Sigma Balls brought to life

Sigma’s Hyperspheres operate as his primary fire and are able to bounce off of walls – almost like a mix of Zenyatta and Moira’s orbs, almost.

They’re definitely one of the most unique parts of his kit, next to his bare feet, and it will be pretty cool to see what people do with it in cosplays.

BlizzCon 2019 is just over three months away, so there’s a good chance some Sigma costumes have already been started.

Reddit user Browncoat40 has gotten a head start on all of the Sigma’s cosplays sure to come this year by creating their very own, 3D printed IRL Hyperspheres.

Browncoat said it only took them two prototypes before they got some Hyperspheres that looked like the real thing.

“I got lucky that I had the right colors on hand and didn’t need like 6 prototypes before I was happy,” they said.

For those of us that have, or have access to a 3D printer, Browncoat even provided a set of files to make your very own pair of spheres.

Try out Sigma for yourself in the PTR

As we mentioned earlier, Sigma is now available on Overwatch’s PTR, which was just updated on July 25.

Hyperspheres weren’t touched in the update but his Kinetic Grasp, which converts most incoming damage to shields, was slightly buffed.

We still don’t have a solid timeframe for when Sigma will leave the PTR and finally be available for console players – but he will be available for pros to use in the 2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals, on September 29.

Despite what we all know about “Blizzard soon,” it’s pretty unlikely Sigma will spend the more than 2 months until the finals on the PTR.
