Overwatch fan creates awesome hero concept that counters the most popular metas in competitive play

Overwatch has a vast array of heroes to choose from that contribute various strengths or weaknesses depending on their composition in a given team, and a new hero fan-concept could be a breakthrough in dismantling annoying metas that plague the game.

Blizzard released Overwatch in May of 2016 and has since been the home to insanely competitive games both at a pro level and in amateur matchmaking. Yet strategies become popularized that are sometimes hard to counter with the current slate of heroes, which is why one fan took the task upon himself to create one.

In a post, Reddit user Toxicinator gave a detailed breakdown of a concept hero named Voltic who is a natural damage-per-second (DPS) counter to top metas in the Overwatch battlefields.

BlizzardOverwatch features unique heroes that bring substance to the game, and the latest design might be a good addition to the roster.

Toxicinator’s detailed abilities for Voltic focus on survivability and crowd control (CC) while offering a stable source for DPS if allowed the time to ramp up its rail-gun.

The Reddit user suggested that Voltic could be an insanely effective counter to the G.O.A.T.S and Double Sniper comps that can easily dwindle opposing sides at lightning paces.

Commenters felt that Voltic’s passive would be too easy to play around and the range of CC would be able to thwart any offense too easily.

Although Toxicinator’s hero was born in 2017 before champions with high amounts of CC like Brigitte were introduced, he argues that there’s still a place for Voltic in the current state of the game.

The concept is intricate with the hero having a defined set of strengths and weaknesses, so with some fine-tuning Voltic could easily have a place in the game.
