New York Excelsior Announces Surprising Change to its Overwatch League Staff

New York Excelsior has announced it has parted ways with its Director of Player Personnel, Scott ‘Bearhands’ Tester.

A former Blizzard employee, Tester joined the New York Excelsior in July of 2017. The team has now announced that they have parted ways by mutual agreement.

Tester has been widely praised for his work putting together the New York Excelsior, both identifying and securing the former LuxuryWatch Blue squad as the core of the team and making key additions to build the NYXL as they are today.

His work helped to create the number one team in the league right now. While many ranked Seoul Dynasty and London Spitfire ahead of New York coming into the league, both having been built around teams that had won OGN’s APEX, as Stage 3 comes to a conclusion the Excelsior sit five matches clear at the top of the overall standings and have a stage title to their name.

The announcement of Tester’s departure came in the form of a short statement from New York Excelsior:

We’ve mutually agreed to part ways with Director of Player Personnel, Scott Tester. We thank him for all of his efforts in making the launch of NYXL such a success and wish him the best in his future endeavors.

The team has yet to announce a replacement. Tester himself has not yet commented on the decision, or what might be next for him.
