Blizzard has launched a new limited-time event in Overwatch that captures the spirit of Mardi Gras through an assortment of fresh unlockable items.

In the same vein as previous events such as Bastion’s Brick Challenge and D.Va’s Nano Cola Challenge, a new mini-event has been released that allows players to earn a unique set of Mardi Gras themed items.

Running from February 25 until March 9, players are able to get their hands on an assortment of new unlocks from player icons to sprays and even an Epic skin.

Blizzard
Ashe is ready for Mardi Gras festivities thanks to this brand new skin.

What is the new Ashe skin?

The new Ashe skin introduced with her limited-time event throws the Damage-based hero into the midst of Mardis Gras celebrations. Not only that, but her Omnic companion also drops into battle with an appropriately themed getup.

With striking green, purple, and gold colors complimenting a white base, the two figures look elegant enough to walk the streets of New Orleans.

Both are decked out with charming top hats and eyemasks to complete the look. There will be no mistaking this Epic skin once players are able to celebrate Mardi Gras in style.

Blizzard
Ashe doesn’t drop into the celebration alone as B.O.B. is also dressed up for the occasion.

How to complete the Ashe Mardi Gras Challenge

No different to previous in-game events such as Ana’s Bastet Challenge for instance, the Ashe Mardi Gras Challenge will involve a mixture of both playing and watching the game for those who want to unlock everything on offer.

In order to acquire the new skin, players will need to win nine games in total. These wins can be accumulated throughout the duration of the event and count across Quick Play, Competitive Play, and even Arcade modes.

Not only is the unique skin up for grabs, but along the way, the event will also provide a number of new Mardi Gras themed cosmetics from sprays to icons.

Winning games will unlock the following rewards:

  • Win 3 Games | 2 Player Icons
  • Win 6 Games | 1 New Spray
  • Win 9 Games | Mardi Gras Ashe (and Bob) Epic Skin

Watching eligible streamers will unlock the following rewards:

  • Watch 2 Hours | 1 New Spray
  • Watch 4 Hours | 2 New Sprays
  • Watch 6 Hours | 2 New Sprays

The latest mini-event in Overwatch, players familiar with similar challenges will feel right at home unlocking everything throughout the duration of the Mardi Gras Challenge.

Dafran shows off incredible Overwatch Dynamite tactic with Ashe

Twitch streamer-turned-farmer Daniel ‘Dafran’ Francesca showed that he is still insane at Overwatch by utilizing a simple trick with the hero Ashe.

Dafran has long been considered one of the best Overwatch players on the planet, despite only spending one stage in OWL back in season 2. While he was known mostly for his sensational McCree, Soldier, and Tracer plays, the Danish DPS star can also frag out on Ashe.

During a December 3 broadcast, Dafran found himself attacking on Junkertown and in a prime position to help his team capture Point B.

On the Ashe, Dafran noticed all sorts of enemies were grouping in a small room they need to funnel through to get into the streets phase area. With his Widowmaker ally using her ultimate to fully reveal their location, Francesca decided to take matters into his own hands.

Ashe can be a big threat with Dynamite.

With his B.O.B active on the other side of the room and the enemies waiting for the big Omnic butler to disappear before they made their move, Dafran threw his Dynamite barely inside.

Ashe’s Dynamite can be one of the most impactful abilities in Overwatch, dealing massive damage upon the explosion and then a bit more over time. Those closest to the explosion take 50 damage with 100 burn damage coming over time.

Once the Dynamite exploded, the enemy Ashe, Baptiste, Zenyatta and Widowmaker were at his mercy. Speaking of Mercy, the Dane had one pocketing him, making sure he inflicted extra damage.

With some simple hip firing, he was able to eliminate the three targets before ADSing to dink the Widow for the quadruple kill – plus, 60% in brand new ultimate charge for another B.O.B.

“That’s an Overwatch League play, dude!” he exclaimed. “Holy f**k, dude.”

The best part about the whole sequence is just how simple it really was, and there is no reason you can’t replicate it in your games. Just remember how easy Ashe’s Dynamite can be to land if you don’t overcomplicate the toss and opt to just hip fire.

It may not be the flashiest, but it can win entire team fights with relative ease. Give it a shot next time you queue up as DPS.
