RunAway’s Kim ‘Haksal’ Hyo-jong showed off his incredible Genji skills in the finals of the NetEase Esports X Tournament.

Haksal made his name as one of the original great Genji players during the early seasons of OGN’s APEX, ultimately helping to take the team to two APEX finals.

Since the arrival of the Overwatch League, however, Haksal has been out of the biggest spotlight in Overwatch, having been too young to compete in the first season. Instead, Haksal remained in South Korea with RunAway, who finally lifted their first trophy in Season 2 of Contenders Korea.

RunAway’s latest appearance came at NeXT, where they faced a few of China’s top teams. In the grand final they faced T1w Esports Club, and swept them aside to add another title to their resume.

During the final map, Volskaya, Haksal issued a reminder of what he’s capable of on his signature hero, pulling out a big five-kill to stop T1w’s assault.

NeXT may well be the last time Haksal and co play under the RunAway banner. As one of the most tenured and successful teams in Korean Overwatch, and the champions of the most recent Contenders, RunAway is widely considered the top team outside of the Overwatch League, and a prime candidate to be picked up in its entirety by one of the eight new expansion teams.

With Haksal turning 18 in October, he’ll be eligible to compete in Season Two of the league. Regardless of whether RunAway remain together, Haksal seems all but guaranteed an opportunity to play on the game’s biggest stage once again.
