Popular Twitch streamer Dr Disrespect doesn’t have a problem with Overwatch, but does think the Blizzard game can be tough for people to watch others play.
Dr Disrespect is one of the most popular streamers on Twitch and he’s been known to dabble in Overwatch before, even though he mostly sticks to FPS games.
While playing Respawn Entertainment’s popular battle royale Apex Legends Doc told chat what he thought about Overwatch on Twitch, and why it can be tough for people to get into.
The Overwatch League regularly draws in more than 100,000 viewers on Twitch.[ad name=”article2″]
After being asked what he thought of Overwatch, Doc admitted he had a lot of fun playing the game, but watching it was another story.
“It’s a lot of fun to play it’s just really hard to like, sit down and watch somebody play it,” he said, before adding that many of the people who do watch it also play the game and understand it.
“They play it and they’re engulfed in it and it’s sort of this hardcore niche community which is extremely passionate about it,” Doc pointed out. “It’s up to the viewers if they want to commit time to learn about the game watching somebody.”
He went on to say that he didn’t think Overwatch was too complicated to understand, just that there could be an initial challenge of understanding what’s going on in the game for viewers who don’t play themselves.
Does Overwatch have a Twitch problem?
Compared to other games on Twitch, Overwatch is pretty average, but reaches near the top of the most-viewed games every time Overwatch League comes on.
A lot of high-profile Overwatch streamers like Brandon ‘Seagull’ Larned and Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel have moved on to variety streaming instead of playing exclusively Overwatch recently, which certainly doesn’t help the game’s Twitch numbers.
Still, thanks mainly to the popularity of Overwatch League, Overwatch is still one of the most-viewed games on Twitch with a large, loyal following of fans, just like Doc said.
