BTS K-Pop star Jungkook stuns fans with insane Overwatch skills

Korean pop star Jungkook caught fans completely off guard as he posted a look at his impressive Overwatch skills, with the gameplay clip going viral.

The singer-songwriter, who is a member of the mega-popular pop band BTS, likes to give regular updates to the group’s fanbase using Twitter, but not many would have been expecting him to drop a video of him playing Blizzard’s team-based multiplayer game on October 31. 

However, that’s exactly what he did and people just couldn’t get enough of it. 

At the time of writing, the short clip – which only lasts 17 seconds – has been retweeted over 230,000 times, liked by over 650,000 accounts, and has racked up 2.3 million views.

Those are numbers that many Twitch and Mixer streamers can only dream of, despite many of them playing Overwatch on a regular basis. 

Jungkook simply tweeted “After a long time”, along with a video of some of his scintillating gameplay using Widowmaker and her deadly Widow’s Kiss sniper rifle.

In just a matter of seconds, the K-Pop star tore through three opponents with some eye-catching quick scopes, leaving many of his fans suggesting esports organizations should consider securing his services in the future.

While that might be a step too far based on just one clip, there’s no doubt that if Jungkook – or another player of his ilk – could perform to a high level consistently, it would be a coup for any org to bring in somebody with such star quality. 

However, even if that is extremely unlikely to happen any time soon, that hasn’t stopped people from imagining what it would be like to see him pitted against some of the very best.

“All the professional gamers in the world, you’re time is up because Jungkook is back in the game,” one fan tweeted, with another suggesting that he should set up his own gaming channel on a streaming platform. 

The biggest nod, though, came from head coach of the Los Angeles Gladiator’s – an esports team that competes in the Overwatch League.

After being made aware of the clip on Twitter, David Pei responded with a simple message. “He’s kinda insane actually,” he tweeted. 

It seems highly unlikely that anything will come out of this, in terms of Jungkook playing Overwatch at a competitive level in the future, although that doesn’t mean to say that he won’t start streaming the game for fans to watch. Watch this space.
