Team Liquid CS:GO Looking to Bench stanislaw and Pick up Brazilian Replacement

Rumor has it that Team Liquid is looking to bench ex-OpTic captain Peter ‘stanislaw’ Jarguz in favor of Immortals’ Lucas ‘steel’ Lopes.

The North American team is coming off of a close 2-1 loss to Cloud9 in the semifinal of the $100,000 iBUYPOWER Masters 2017 event in Santa Ana, California.

They also recently won the Americas Minor which secured them a spot at the ELEAGUE Boston 2018 Major Main Qualifier in January.

Add this to other results in the latter half of 2017, like the runner up finish at ESL: One New York, and you’d be forgiven for believing that all is well in the Team Liquid camp.

However a report by industry insider Jarek ‘DeKay’ Lewis on November 13th, just one day after their 3rd-4th finish at iBUYPOWER Masters, suggests otherwise.

It looks like stanislaw will be being benched in the very near future, with the Brazilian player steel replacing him for the time being.

Stanislaw has been a part of Team Liquid since leaving OpTic Gaming in February of 2017. His time as in-game leader with OpTic saw him take the team to victory at ELEAGUE Season 2 and Northern Arena Montreal.

After a 12-14th finish at the 2017 ELEAGUE Major in Atlanta he shocked everyone by opting to leave OpTic in favor of Team Liquid who were struggling at the time.

The Canadian joined as the team’s in-game leader but moved to the lurking role when Nicholas ‘nitr0’ Cannella took over the strat calling.

Steel currently plays for Immortals as a rifler and he lead the previous iteration of the team to a runner up position at the last CS:GO Major.

With the Immortals roster falling apart, Team Liquid may see the opportunity to grab steel as too good to miss as he could directly replace stanislaw as a lurker or even relieve nitr0 from some of the stresses of in-game leading.

Having already attempted to qualify for the ELEAGUE Boston Major, steel will be ineligible to play for Team Liquid at the Major Qualifier so we would likely see stanislaw returning to the team for that event.

If the rumors are true, Team Liquid will consist of:

  •  Nicholas ‘nitr0’ Cannella
  •  Jonathan ‘EliGE’ Jablonowski
  •  Joshua ‘jdm64’ Marzano
  •  Russel ‘Twistzz’ Van Dulken
  •  Lucas ‘steel’ Lopes (stand-in)
  •  Wilton ‘zews’ Prado (coach)
  •  Peter ‘stanislaw’ Jarguz (benched)
